Cloverdale High School
Principal's Message

Cloverdale High School (CHS) is a comprehensive high school of 417 students in grades 9-12. In 2001 and 2003, CHS met its Academic Performance Index (API) targets for the whole school and in 2004 successfully met all six of its Adequate Yearly Progress Criteria (AYP) under the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) mandate. Seventy-seven percent of CHS students pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) on their first attempt.

Cloverdale High School offers advanced standing, honors, and advanced placement (AP) classes in English, social science, math, and science. In addition, CHS balances its academic program with a good selection of vocational programs, including: auto shop, agricultural mechanics, woodworking, advanced computer, and child care.

In 1999, Cloverdale High School applied and received a Digital High School Grant of $150,000 and received an additional technology grant of $100,000 three years later. These funds have been used for staff development, computer hardware/software, upgrade wiring, and to support technology in the classroom. All classrooms have computers that have Internet access. Additionally, CHS has two computer labs. Students utilize technology for research, to complete assignments using the software applications, and for presentations (e.g., PowerPoint).

Beginning Summer 2006, Cloverdale High School will be offering college credit courses through its Santa Rosa Junior College Partnership program. This program enables students to take college courses concurrently with their high school courses, with courses being offered both on-site and online. The future: Cloverdale Middle College High School, with the goal of offering students the opportunity to graduate with both their high school diploma and an AA degree.

About 80% of Cloverdale High School students continue their education after high school, including attendance at vocational/trade schools, community colleges, and four-year universities. In a small high school, students have the opportunity to get involved in a variety of clubs, drama, and athletics.

The mission of Cloverdale High School is to offer a program of excellence in education, which promotes intellectual and personal development for a lifetime of learning and success in a democratic society.

The district offers an alternative for students who cannot achieve the same success in traditional settings. Students in grades 10-12 have the option of attending Johanna Echols-Hansen Continuation High School, with a current enrollment of 26 students.
