Economics is a one-semester length course at Cloverdale High School, and is a graduation requirement. Economics is the study of how people and countries use their resources to produce, distribute and consume consumer goods and services. The focus of this class is to get a better understanding of the economy of the United States and also how our economy functions within the world economy. The areas of study are as follows:
- Economic Systems: 1 week
- Economic Growth: 2 weeks
- Competition: 3 weeks
- Income and Spending: 2.5 weeks
- Economic Institutions: 1.5 weeks
- The Role of Government: 2 weeks
- Monetary Policy: 2 weeks
- The Federal Budget: 2 weeks
- International Trade: 2 weeks
- Global Economics: 1 week
Grading Policy
Your grade will be based on the following:
- Tests: 30-40%
- Homework: 15-20%
- Interactive Student Notebook: 15-25%
- Class Participation: 10-20%
- Projects: 15-20%
Your semester grade will be a combination of your 3rd quarter, 4th quarter and final exam score.
If you miss a test or assignment, it is your responsibility to make it up within the allotted time.
